The words of Venerable Nano Nagle, lights our way as we celebrate our 60th Diamond Year of ministry and service to the Staten Island community. Our Mission, ever strong, continues to evolve with the goals of our school community. Our Strategic Plan: Vision 2025 is in full effect as our facilities and programs expand to meet each moment.
Moore Catholic High School holds charters to the National Honor Society, as well as content specific NHS Charters in Science, English, Mathematics and Social Studies. MCHS holds two accreditations: AdvancED/Cognia and Middle States.
I am honored to write to you as President of Moore Catholic High School. In this new position, I am positioned to devote more time to our community partnerships and alumni engagement. This year, the broadcast studio for Lantern Lights Media was installed on the second floor. A new elective, Set Design, connects engineering, art and design to our Performing Arts Institute. Our state of the art Collaboration Center provides space for SETSS as well as courses such as Advanced Placement Computer Science. Our red athletic field has been professionally groomed and is ready for a new season. The gym floor repainted and refinished. With the assistance of grants from The Staten Island Foundation and other funding sources, the weight room is being transformed into a holistic Wellness Center. Through various efforts, our Family Association raised funds to assist with the summer installation of air conditioning in our cafeteria.
The Class of 2022 earned acceptances to competitive schools such as New York University, The Citadel, Barnard, Clemson, Drexel, Hunter College Macaulay Honors and SUNY Binghamton. Three of our graduates have chosen to serve our country in various arms of our military forces.
At the 2022 Minty Awards Ceremony, our Performing Arts Institute under the direction of Mrs. Kristen Pinto, took home the top award for their staging of Shrek, the Musical!

Since our founding in 1962, Moore Catholic High School (MCHS) has been a leading choice for motivated students seeking a fully-balanced, individualized educational experience. As the only co-educational Catholic high school located in mid-Staten Island, MCHS is in a unique position to offer a student-centered learning environment in the Catholic tradition of excellence in education.
Our academic offerings include Advanced Placement and St. John’s University College Advantage courses. In accordance with the standards set forth by the New York State Board of Regents, all of our students graduate with either a Regents Diploma or a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation.
Our Institute for the Performing Arts, lead by Mrs. Kristen Pinto, continues to earn multiple awards at the Minty’s Gala, including the 2022 “Best Musical winner” Shrek. Under the direction of J.C. Albano, our top-flight athletics program is showing continuous success, including Softball and Football, as well as adding new sports including Lacrosse.
In 2022, our graduates were accepted to top colleges and universities, including Catholic University of America, Clemson, New York University, William E. Macaulay Honors at Hunter College and the College of Staten Island, Penn State University, The Citadel and Temple University, earning over 10 million dollars in scholarships.
We are blessed to have Fr. Rhey Garcia with us on campus, along with our Campus Minister Danielle Santangelo, who together have created ample opportunities for our students to be in touch with their faith.
Prospective students are encouraged to attend our Maverick for a Day program, as well as attend our sporting events and musical performances. There is so much to see and be a part of at Moore Catholic, and we cannot wait to see you here!
