Coach Tingos has assembled a fine coaching staff that works closely with student-athletes to help them develop in all aspects of the game. Coach Tingos’ staff includes former CHSAA city champion coach Mike Ponsiglione, MLB Cincinnati Reds scout Tom Kain, and veteran coaches Angelo DeFillipis and Joe Mrezcko. The former Maverick played Shortstop and was a Pitcher for the Moore Catholic Baseball team when they won the City Championship in 2005.
Coach Tingos’ resume speaks for itself. Coach played Varsity baseball at Moore Catholic from 2002-2006, then went on to play Division 1 baseball at Long Island University where his name is entrenched all over the record book. Following his playing days at LIU, Coach Tingos was brought on to the LIU staff for the next two seasons. From there, Coach Tingos had a brief stint coaching at Stuyvesant High School, before heading back to Moore Catholic to guide the JV team. After departing as Moore Catholic’s JV Coach, Tingos went on to coach Softball at the College of Staten Island for three seasons; winning NCAA CUNY Championships each year. In January 2021, Coach Tingos announced the return of the JV baseball program, something he takes great pride in. “Moore Catholic is a second home for me. The school and its environment are second to none. It’s a small school that meets the needs of every student that walks through the door.
The baseball program is always top notch and I look forward to bringing back the pride and tradition that is associated with Moore Catholic baseball. The Baseball Program has the luxury of playing at the beautiful Mid Island Babe Ruth Complex in the Fall and Spring. The off-campus site is less than a mile from Moore Catholic, a great home field advantage!
