Leading the Moore Catholic Girls Varsity Basketball program is head coach Gene Henderson. Coach Henderson played 4 years of High School Basketball at St. Joseph by the Sea and has been coaching basketball at all levels for over 20 years. His coaching experience includes: CYO, AAU, and High School. He has also has coached and taught basketball at many camps and clinics over the years. Coach Henderson brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Moore Catholic. He has coached at Msgr. Farrell and St. John Villa Academy as a varsity assistant and has been a JV Girls Head Coach at both St. Joseph by the Sea and Moore Catholic. Coach Henderson believes in teaching the game in order for his players to understand the game and not just play it. He pushes his teams to be smart, hardworking and respectful. Coach Henderson believes when those things happen, everything falls into place.

Our boys basketball program is headed by Associate Athletic Director Kyle McAlarney ‘05. Coach McAlarney comes back to Moore Catholic after a collegiate and professional career that is unmatched on Staten Island. He finished his high school career as the all time leading scorer in Staten Island history, earned a full scholarship to the University of Notre Dame, and had a stellar 9 year professional career that spanned the globe.
Our program is founded on Coach McAlarney’s 5 principles: Relationships, Joy, Education, Integrity, and Humility.
The Varsity coaching staff is rounded out by Alec Willis and Tommy Byrnes. Coach Willis is a former standout student athlete at St Joseph’s College in Brooklyn, while Coach Byrnes brings a wide ranging background in coaching and civil service.
Our JV boys basketball team is led by Greg Civiletti (former collegiate player), and assisted by Sal Mazzaro and Brian Bernardi (Hofstra University, former pro).
