Maverick Cheerleading

The Moore Catholic Cheerleading Program exists to encourage school spirit and pride in Moore Catholic High School, to promote physical and mental development, to set an example of good behavior and sportsmanship at all times (whether in uniform or not), and to develop lifelong values and skills. Our MCHS Cheerleading Program offers a unique opportunity for personal growth, leadership, and involvement in diverse activities. The attitude, dedication, and enthusiasm of the squad members are just as important as the skills involved in spirit leading. Members of the cheer squad are committed to the highest level of athleticism, performance, self-discipline, respect for the school and others, personal exemplary conduct and the performance of all responsibilities related to the pursuit of school spirit and pride. Furthermore, cheerleaders demonstrate a proven ability to balance academic requirements and demands with extra-curricular and personal activities.

Our Moore Catholic Cheerleading Program is run by Giana Abbruzzese, a former member of the 2012 CUNYAC Championship CSI Cheerleading team, part of the 2013 CUNYAC Stunt Team Champion, the 2013 CUNYAC Tumbling Champion, and a member of the 2013 Inside Cheerleading All- American NCAA Division III, coaches alongside Jenna Canciglia and Moore alumni Julia Scarola (‘21). Abbruzzese, Canciglia, and Scarola have coached at the elementary and high school levels for many years.

Our Moore Catholic Cheerleading Program understands that teamwork and the maintenance of discipline is key to the success of the cheer program. Our Moore Catholic Cheerleading Program is dedicated to promoting spirit, enthusiasm, and a positive winning attitude through example.

Our MCHS Cheerleading Program offers one competitive team. There is no experience required or needed to be a part of our MCHS Cheerleading Program. Our MCHS Cheerleading program cheers on the sidelines for an array of sports including football and basketball. Our MCHS is part of the CHSAA and competes at many local, state, regional, and National level competitions along the eastern coast including our major competition, NHSCC UCA Nationals in Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
