Moore Catholic’s Technology department strives to deliver 21st century instruction to support academic excellence and encourage collaboration, digital citizenship, and ethical use of information. The integration of technology in all academic areas allows for extended learning, teacher innovation, and support of traditional educational practices. Integration of technology and multimedia into all subject areas allows students to explore various educational applications with the goal of supporting independent learning and classroom inquiry. Students learn to effectively navigate a variety of word processing, spreadsheet, slide presentation, and creativity tools. Students learn to evaluate the informational merit of web sources; encouraging them to use information critically and effectively. The curriculum challenges students to explore new technologies, develop strategies and skills to locate information, and then apply what they have learned in meaningful ways. The technology department offers instruction in the use of educational technologies to support current academic course work and give students the tools that will assist them in the college application process and carry them through their college years. Technology is constantly evolving and our programming will change and adapt according to student needs and best practices as determined by ISTE; the International Society for Technology in Education.
Moore Catholic has invested in iPad technology for a specific purpose. Our school purchased apps from renowned test-prep experts Princeton Review and Kaplan for use during dedicated class periods for supervised student test practice. We are providing the tablets for in-school use at no additional expense to our families. Moore teachers are also exploring ways in which iPad technology can enhance classroom instruction.
